Back in October, Andrew posed a question about wether the new 2010 Jaguar XF could compete with the BMW 5 Series. The answers from you were mixed and most of them were solely based on the design of the two cars and especially, the interior comfort. Since we haven’t driven the Jaguar XF, it was difficult for us to asses it from a performance point of view, but today, we might have an answer for you.
The fellows at InsideLine decided to break the usual design-to-design comparisons and took the two cars to the track.
To see just how close, we brought back a 2009 BMW 550i to see how the new Jag stacks up when it’s not getting help from a supercharger. Given that the BMW is giving up 25 hp and 20 lb-ft of torque, we expected a close contest - and got one.
