BMW X5 E70 Facelift

Even though we were led to believe that the BMW X5 facelifted model will be coming out in September, the latest information place the E70 LCI launch next Spring, between March and April. Most of the obvious changes in this Life Cycle Impulse model are noticeable at the front-end where the X6-style headlights will replace the current ones.. A new front bumper similar to the X6 one will be featured on this model.

At the rear, a similar bumper update, but if we were to listen to the rumor mill, then we would say that the 2011 model will feature a one-piece hatch for the first time.

As far as powerplants, the much needed and wanted 6-cylinder twin-turbo engine is rumored to make its way into the current line-up.

A new diesel twin-turbo 6-cylinder diesel engine might also be offered as a replacement to the current diesel powerplant. This new diesel would output 306 horsepower and 442 lb-ft (600 Nm) at just 1,500 rpm. Same engine will be used in the BMW 735d.

Inside, the one upgrade that will satisfy many future BMW owners and fans is the new generation iDrive system which features the hard drive based navigation system, new iDrive knob controls and a larger, crisper LCD screen.

If the launch date is set in stone, we expect the Detroit or Chicago Auto Show to be the host for the X5 facelifted model.
